Collections & Products
Can I add only specific variants to a collection, without pulling in the entire product?
Usually this comes from stores that sell products with very different variants (different colors, materials, flavors, etc...) and want to merchandise them separately, as if each variant were its own standalone product.
Shopify collections are product-based: when a product is added to a collection, all of its variants are included. There's no way to attach a single variant to a collection. This applies to all Shopify stores and apps equally.
The most straightforward workaround is to split variants out into separate products.
Why can't I see my smart collections in the app?
Smart Collection Pro works with manual collections only. Smart collections are managed entirely by Shopify and can't be extended by third-party apps.
If you want to bring a smart collection into the app, you'd need to delete it and recreate it as a manual collection first. Just keep in mind that deleting a collection removes all references to it, including any placements in your theme. We'd recommend testing this on a dev store before touching anything on your live store.
We're in touch with Shopify to make smart collections supported in the future — but there's no timeline to share yet.
